Love takes a more intimate turn on “Huyu,” the fifth track on Harmonize's newly released album 31. Following the collaborative energy of the opening tracks, the Tanzanian Bongo Flava star takes the entire record for himself, making this one of the project's few solo performances.
The Swahili word “Huyu” translates to “this one” or “this person,” a fitting title for a song centred on choosing and celebrating someone special. Harmonize delivers the record with a warm, affectionate approach, portraying the kind of connection where one person stands out from everyone else. His performance focuses on admiration, commitment and the happiness that comes from finding a partner worth holding onto.
Produced around a smooth Bongo Flava groove, the song gives Harmonize enough space to let his melodic vocals carry the emotion. Rather than relying on a guest verse, he maintains the narrative from beginning to end, allowing the romantic theme to remain consistent throughout the track.
Coming after “Tangazo” featuring Marioo, “Huyu” changes the pace of 31 and provides a more personal moment before the album moves into “I Do” featuring Ya Levis. At just over two and a half minutes, it keeps its message focused while maintaining the polished, contemporary sound associated with Harmonize's recent work.
As Track 05, “Huyu” adds a softer dimension to 31, showing Harmonize stepping away from the album's numerous collaborations to deliver a direct and personal statement on love.
