Young Jonn – Hold Somebody

Talented Nigeria Music producer and songwriter, Young Jonn turns toward companionship and emotional connection on “Hold Somebody,” the sixth track from his seven-song Dear London EP. Positioned just before the project’s finale, the Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer slows the journey into a warmer space, focusing on the desire to have someone close and experience genuine affection.

On “Hold Somebody,” Young Jonn approaches romance with an easygoing delivery, capturing that simple human need for closeness without making the record unnecessarily complicated. The song revolves around companionship and attraction, with his melodic vocals giving the subject a relaxed and intimate character. It is the kind of record that fits naturally into romantic moments while remaining accessible enough for everyday listening.

Production is handled by Jaytunes, who provides a polished rhythmic backdrop for Young Jonn’s performance. The arrangement draws from contemporary Afrobeats and Afro-Pop, allowing melody to remain prominent while maintaining the groove that runs throughout Dear London. Young Jonn, whose full name is John Saviours Udomboso, is credited as the composer.

The record also provides an effective contrast with “Glass in the Air,” which precedes it. Where Track 5 carries a more celebratory atmosphere, “Hold Somebody” shifts the attention from enjoying the moment to sharing that moment with another person. This change gives the closing section of the EP more emotional variety.

As Track 6, “Hold Somebody” also serves as the final stop before “Ws in the Chat” closes the seven-track project. Across Dear London, Young Jonn moves through different moods and experiences, and this song contributes a softer romantic chapter before the confident energy of the finale.

Released through Chocolate City Music, “Hold Somebody” showcases the melodic side of Young Jonn’s artistry and his ability to create contemporary Nigerian love songs without losing the rhythmic appeal associated with his music.
