Nigerian Afrobeats sensation and talented singer-songwriter Shallipopi returns with an exciting three-track extended play titled “Wayward EP,” bringing another chapter of his unconventional musical journey to the forefront. Known for his distinctive Benin-inspired expressions, infectious street slang, and effortlessly recognizable vocal style, the Pluto Presido continues to explore the creative identity that has made him one of the most talked-about personalities in contemporary Naija Music.
The “Wayward EP” is a compact project featuring three songs: “.Com,” “UP (Transovania),” and “OGO.” Rather than presenting an extensive collection of recordings, Shallipopi delivers a concise body of work that places attention on his individual artistry and the unique cultural influences associated with his music.
Since gaining widespread recognition with his breakthrough hit “Elon Musk,” Shallipopi has developed a reputation for introducing unusual expressions and memorable phrases into Nigerian popular music. His creative approach draws heavily from the language, lifestyle, and street culture of Benin City, Edo State, giving his recordings a distinctive identity within the country's evolving Afrobeats landscape.
With “Wayward,” the singer continues to embrace the unconventional personality that has shaped his career. The EP's title suggests independence, unpredictability, and a willingness to move outside established expectations, qualities that closely reflect Shallipopi's public image and artistic approach. It provides an intriguing identity for a project from an artist who has consistently built his appeal around originality and street-inspired creativity.
Opening the project is “.Com,” a title that introduces a contemporary, digitally inspired expression. Its placement as the first track makes it the starting point of the three-song listening experience, setting the stage for the other selections on the EP.
The second track, “UP (Transovania),” carries an unusual title that immediately stands out. The reference to Transovania adds a distinctive touch to the project, reflecting Shallipopi's preference for memorable names and unconventional terminology. Positioned at the centre of the EP, the song forms the connection between the opening record and the final track.
Completing the project is “OGO,” the third and closing song. The word ogo is commonly associated with glory in Yoruba, although its intended meaning within the recording depends on the song's lyrical context. As the concluding track, it brings the short collection to its finish and gives listeners another selection from Shallipopi's expanding catalogue.
One of the notable aspects of the “Wayward EP” is its straightforward three-track arrangement. Each song carries a different title and identity, allowing listeners to experience the project without unnecessary additions. The concise format also highlights Shallipopi's continuing interest in creating music around memorable expressions and recognizable cultural references.
Throughout his career, the Nigerian singer has helped popularize a distinctive approach to Afrobeats, Afro-fusion, and Nigerian Street-Pop, combining his Edo State background with contemporary youth culture. His influence extends beyond music into popular slang, fashion, and the wider entertainment conversations surrounding Nigeria's younger generation of artists.
For fans of Shallipopi, Naija Music, Nigerian Afrobeats, Afro-Pop, and contemporary street-inspired African music, “Wayward EP” offers three additional recordings to explore. The project contributes to the singer's growing discography while maintaining the unconventional identity that has distinguished him from many of his contemporaries.
Overall, “Wayward EP” represents another addition to Shallipopi's musical journey, presenting a brief but focused collection built around his individual creative direction. With “.Com,” “UP (Transovania),” and “OGO,” the Pluto Presido continues to bring his personality and cultural influences into the Nigerian music scene.
