Black Sherif teams up with AratheJay on “Forever,” the third track on his SUN SHERIF EP. The collaboration brings together two distinctive voices from Ghana’s new generation, with Black Sherif’s weighty, expressive delivery meeting AratheJay’s smoother melodic presence.
“Forever” finds Black Sherif in a noticeably more assured space, reflecting on blessings, personal progress and the peace that can come from understanding how far one has travelled. Rather than dwelling on the uncertainty and heavier emotions that have characterised parts of his earlier catalogue, he approaches the record with greater composure and confidence.
AratheJay adds another layer to the record, complementing Black Sherif without taking away from the song’s central identity. His contribution strengthens the melodic character of the track, while the production by Westen provides a spacious foundation that allows both artists to occupy their own moments.
The collaboration also carries added significance because the two artists have worked together before, with Black Sherif previously appearing on AratheJay’s “Jesus Christ 2.” This time, the creative exchange is reversed, placing AratheJay on Black Sherif’s own project and giving “Forever” the feel of a natural continuation of their musical relationship.
