Ghanaian singer, rapper and songwriter Black Sherif returns with Sun Sherif, a six-track EP that presents a more open, hopeful and emotionally mature side of the award-winning artist. Released in September 2026, the project arrives as a new chapter following his critically acclaimed IRON BOY album, with Black Sherif using the compact body of work to explore love, personal growth, ambition, self-belief and the complexities of intimacy.
Across its 15-minute runtime, Sun Sherif maintains the storytelling and emotional honesty that have become central to Black Sherif’s music, but the atmosphere feels noticeably lighter. Where some of his earlier material was heavily shaped by struggle, uncertainty and survival, this project reflects an artist becoming more comfortable with his accomplishments while confronting the emotional experiences that come with growth.
The EP opens with “Expresso,” a driven introduction that reflects on ambition, hard work and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Black Sherif sounds confident but measured, acknowledging how far he has travelled without losing the hunger that pushed him forward.
He follows with “Run Around,” where the focus shifts toward relationships and emotional vulnerability. The song explores the difficulty of opening up when affection and intimacy do not always develop as expected, giving the project a more personal dimension. “Forever,” featuring Ghanaian singer AratheJay, then brings a warmer and more uplifting energy, combining Black Sherif’s reflective writing with AratheJay’s complementary presence.
The project continues through “Jolie” and “Frontline,” two records that further demonstrate Black Sherif’s ability to move between intimate emotions and the assertive energy associated with his earlier sound. The production varies across the EP, incorporating melodic, piano-led and rhythmic elements while allowing his voice and songwriting to remain the focal point.
Closing the project is “Love Again,” featuring Trinidad and Tobago duo Full Blown. The record takes the EP into a brighter Afro-Caribbean direction, providing a fitting conclusion to a project centred on allowing oneself to experience love and emotional connection again.
With only six songs and two guest appearances, Sun Sherif remains deliberately focused. Black Sherif carries four tracks by himself, giving the project enough space for his personality, melodies and storytelling to dominate while AratheJay and Full Blown add contrasting textures at key moments.
Ultimately, Sun Sherif represents a different emotional chapter for Black Sherif.
